To mark a 100 years of scouting Southend Estuary is holding a weekend camp. This camp will incorporate a Beaver SleepOver.

Belchamps Scout Centre has been booked exclusively for our use from Friday to Sunday. The camp is open to all members of Southend Estuary from the youngest beaver to the oldest scout fellowship member and all of those in between.

The purpose of the weekend is to celebrate Scouting’s 100th birthday and to involve as many of our district as possible. This is a going to be a tremendous birthday bash that everyone will want to attend.

The weekend will include the theme, ‘Scouting Through Time: Past, Present and Future but the main criteria is that scouting in Southend Estuary is fun and vibrant.

Numerous activities have been organised and booked, these include: Assault Course Robot Wars, Motorised Go Karts, BMX Bikes, Bouncy Castle, Climbing, Archery, Traversing Wall, Giant Push Ball, Pedal Karts, Trampolines, Laser Guns, Badge Display, Bar B Que, Campfire, Lands Yachts, Tug of War, Five a Side football, Sedan Chair Races , Disco, It’s a Knockout, and the Chobbles Craft Tent with more activities been added to the list as the preparations move along.

Renewal Of Promise for 2007 will be incorporated into the weekend

The cost is £25 per young person and £15 per leader. This includes all activities, camp fees and Bar B Que on Saturday evening and piece of birthday cake. Each registered participant will receive a T shirt and badge. The price difference reflects those who will be making use of the all activities on offer, and those supporting the young people.

The Beaver SleepOver will make use of the indoor accommodation at Belchamps and all Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, Network and Fellowship will camp in their groups. Each group will be responsible for their own catering including Beavers and provision of camping equipment.

This is an ideal opportunity to involve the whole group, don’t forget the group includes your executive committee and supporters. Invite your committee over to camp and help. Have you any prospective leaders on the fringes, invite them along, this will be a great chance to show them what scouting is about. (Note all adults attending should be CRB checked)

The list of activities is large. All the activities that are “bought in” or require an authorisation will be staffed by Belchamps or the provider. The other activities will need to be supported and supervised by leaders from the groups.

Mark this date in your diaries and include in your group’s programme for 2007. The organising committee will be visiting all groups during November to launch the weekend.

Application packs and specific details will be circulated in December. It is hoped that every member of Southend Estuary will be involved in this celebration and come in the birthday party.
