New Explorer Scout Commissioner   Saturday 22nd April 2006

Mark Champan has agreed to take over as District Explorer Scout Commissioner. We thank Ian 'Syd' Halfacre for the sterling work he's done in this position, and wish Mark every sucess with his new role.

New District Commissioner   Sunday 1st January 2006

Reg Cody has been appointed the new Distict Commissioner for Southend Estuary starting 1st January 2006. We would like to express thanks to Dick Vale for acting as the temporary District Commissioner, and wish Reg every success with his new role.

Incheon Scouts Visit   Monday 21st November 2005 Link to Full Report

The 3rd exchange programme with Incheon Scout District will be taking place 26th-31st July 2006. Scouts from Incheon will be visiting Southend, and the district will be providing a camping experience at Belchamps, a visit to Brownsea Island and two nights home hospitality with a scouting family.

Swimming Gala   Saturday 19th November 2005

Another sucessful swimming gala was held on Saturday 19th November. Well done to 5th Southchurch and Great Wakering who jointly won the Cub Scout events, with 5th Southchurch Scouts winning under 12 and Scouts over 12 catagories.

Eurojam   Friday 21st October 2005 Link to Photos

Our District contingent, with six Scouts and two leaders, attended Eurojam, the European Jamboree at Hylands Park in Chelmsford between 29 July to 10 August 2005.

Southend Carnival   Saturday 20th August 2005 Link to Photos

Nore Explorer Scouts Carnival Float (supported by all other Explorer Units and Synergy Network) won a 'highly commended' award. The theme this year was Spongebob Squarepants - and proved very popular with the crowds. Many thanks to everybody who took part, and to our sponsors - Steve's Self Drive Hire, St. Anns Builders Merchants, Unitruc and Tabor Farms.

P&O Trophy   Monday 27th June 2005

The Scout Section P&O Trophy (Water Activities Competiton) was held on Saturday 25th June in Great Wakering, and was attended by 9 troops. The teams completed events in Kayaking, Rowing, Pulling, Line Throwing, 1st Aid, and finished by racing a raft that they had built during the day. The Winners this year were Great Wakering Sea Scout Group, closely followed by 5th Southchurch. Full results and some photos will be available shortly.

Scout Network News   Saturday 5th February 2005

The Southend section of Synergy Network are now meeting on a Tuesday evening in central Southend. Anybody between the ages of 18 and 25 is welcome, and for more information, see the Scout Network area of this site.

Santa visits the Charity Shop   Saturday 11th December 2004 Link to Photos

On Saturday 11th December, Father Christmas visited the District's Fundraising Shop, to give out presents to the local children.

Patrol Leaders Training Weekend   Friday 19th November 2004 Link to Photos

During the weekend 19th to 21st November, 36 Scouts spent the weekend at Belchamps Scout Campsite learning to be Patrol Leaders. The weekend was filled with a mixture theory and practical sessions. Scouts participated in team building games, communication exercises, giving presentations and learning new skills. Saturday evening saw Christmas come early with a three course Christmas meal.

District Swimming Gala   Saturday 13th November 2004 Link to Full Report

Another sucessful swimming gala was held at Warriors Swim Centre, for Cub Scouts, Scouts and Explorer Scouts.

There was close competition for final placings, and the full results results are available via the link above.

Website Re-launch   Monday 1st November 2004
