Activities

Some of the activities that you may enjoy as a member of the Scout Association include some traditional activities such as camping and pioneering, various adventurous activities such as climbing, walking, and water activities, and for older members that are more extreme activities including paragliding, canyoning and white water rafting.

  Camping

A traditional part of Scouting activities is camping

Climbing

Climbing is one of the adventurous activities that our instructors offer to member of most sections, and can take place on an indoor wall, or on natural rocks, as in this photo, which was taken on a recent trip to Wales.

  Walking

Many of our members enjoy walking, and this photo shows some of our members making their way up to the 600m high summit of 'Sugar Loaf', a large hill in the Peak District, as part of a recent multi-activity weekend.

Mountaineering

Expeditions to foreign countries usually try to take in many activities available in the area, and this mountaineering photo was taken in the French Alps on a recent Explorer Scout trip.

  Paragliding

Again, using the activities of the local area,  participants on a recent expedition to Slovenia had the opportunity to take part in paragliding.

Sailing

This is one of the many water activities offered by Great Wakering Sea Scout Group in our district.

  Kayaking

Many of our members have the opportunity to take part in kayaking activities offered by many of our groups, in swimming pools, the sea, local rivers, and at various activity centres that we visit.

White Water Rafting

A firm favourite of the Explorer Scout section, which is included on nearly every international expedition, and as every participant will tell you, this exhilarating sport is great fun !
